School pick-up app

Parents stay in the car. Your gate calls the child.

When a parent arrives, they tap one button — or their phone’s location tells the school they are close — and a tablet at the gate calls the child’s name and class out loud. Staff bring the child out, tap “Released”, and the parent gets an SMS receipt.

How it works

Three taps between “I’m here” and “I have my child”.

The parent gets a link

By SMS, or as an app notification if they use the School Guardian 360 parent app. It only goes to a phone number the school already has on file, covers all their children at that campus, and expires (12 hours by default). Parents can also scan the QR code on the gate poster.

They tap “I am here”

The link page tracks them as they approach. At the gate they tap “I AM HERE — CALL MY CHILD” — it works even with location switched off. App users tap “I’m here” on their child’s card.

The gate calls the child

The gate tablet announces the child’s name and class, staff bring them out and tap Released, and the parent gets an SMS confirming who was picked up and when.

What your school gets

A calm gate, and a record of every handover.

Live gate board

A PIN-locked tablet shows who is at the gate and who is approaching, with Call, Released and Cancel for each child, plus Mute and Test buttons.

Called out loud

Each arrival is announced on the gate speaker, one at a time — no shouting, no runners hunting through classrooms.

Release receipts

The moment a child is released, the parent gets an SMS with the time — and “If this was NOT you, call the school office immediately.”

Late-pickup reminders

Parents who are running late get a reminder SMS with your gate’s callback number, so the gate is not left waiting.

Walk-home approvals

Parents sign a walk-home agreement and your staff approve or decline it — so the gate knows who may leave on foot.

Pick-up reports

How long handovers take from call to release (against a 3-minute target), how each child left, and the full pick-up history of any one child.

Built for Nigerian schools

Safe by default.

You need: School Guardian 360 for your school (pick-up uses your student list and parent phone numbers), a tablet or phone with a speaker at the gate, and Wi-Fi or mobile data at the gate.

Questions

Schools usually ask…

Do parents need to install an app?

No. The pick-up link opens in any phone browser. Parents who already use the School Guardian 360 parent app can pick up with one tap and no link.

What if a parent’s location is off?

The “I AM HERE — CALL MY CHILD” button works without location. Location only helps the gate see who is on the way.

How do we know the right person collected the child?

Links only go to parent phone numbers already on your records, they expire, and every release sends that parent an SMS receipt so anything unexpected is flagged at once.

Does the gate need internet?

Yes. The gate tablet refreshes every few seconds and shows a warning if it loses its connection.

Can we use it without School Guardian 360?

No — pick-up is part of School Guardian 360 and uses your school’s student and parent records. We set it up with you.

End the crowd at your gate this term.

Send us a message — we’ll set up pick-up for your campus and run the first afternoon with you.
